In 2007, total giving to nonprofit organizations was estimated at $306 billion. $229 billion (74%) of this money was given by individuals. An additional $23 billion (7.6%) was received through bequests- a legacy to long-standing individual donors. Less than $54 billion (18%) of the gifts received by non-profit organizations in 2007 were given by corporations or foundations. (Giving USA Foundation, 2008)

Mike Milton, president of Reformed Theological Seminary, writes… I detest seeing the Church act like a carnival side show, enticing people into the booth with promises of special blessings, if you will “just give.” … giving in the Bible is not just an annual appeal; giving in the Bible is an act of worship.

…the fundraising professional is often frustrated with unreasonable expectations, lack of dedicated resources, lack of support, little cooperation, in addition to any number of other frustrations. Fortunately, as with the first candidate, the job-market is hot and this person is indefinitely employable.
