Empowering Leadership
The first of the four stewardship initiatives is Empowering Leadership. Church leaders facilitate the identification, preparation, and empowerment of a diverse and representative team. Once established and equipped, this team will provide teaching, support, and encouragement to the community as well as fully-demonstrate the principles of Christian stewardship in their daily lives. The application of these principles is established by the 4SI Team and intended to reflect the expectations of the local community.
Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, serving as overseers-not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. 1 Peter 5:2-3 NIV
The 4SI Team consists of a diverse (age, gender, socio-economic, etc.) and representative (elders, staff, Sunday school, lay, etc.) team responsible for integrating the four stewardship initiatives throughout the church culture. The 4SI Team is empowered for leadership using a variety of resources and experiences (leadership curriculum’s, seminars, books, etc.)
Andy Stanley says: The culture of an organization is shaped by the leadership. The stewardship culture of your church will eventually reflect your personal stewardship.
